National Institute of Design (NID)

The National Institute of Design (NID) is internationally acclaimed as one of the foremost multi-disciplinary institutions in the field of design education and research. National Institute of Fashion Technology was set up in 1986 under the aegis of the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. It has emerged as the premier Institute of Design, Management and Technology, developing professionals for taking up leadership positions in fashion business in the emerging global scenario.

The Institute is a pioneer in envisioning and evolving fashion business education in the country through network of seven professionally managed centres at New Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Mumbai.

NIFT has set academic standards and excelled in thought leadership by providing a pool of creative genius and technically competent professionals. The institute provides a common platform for fashion education, research and training.

Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath College of Fine Arts Bangalore

The college of Fine Arts ( CFA ) was established in 1964. It is affiliated to the Bangalore University. It is undoubtedly one of the premiere institutes of art education in the country today. Graduates from the CFA become a part of a network of creative individuals who have shaped and continue to shape the visual culture surrounding all of us.

Within the school, we offer four programmes at the B.F.A. level these include a basic foundation course of two years. This leads to a three year specialisation course in Painting, Sculpture, Art History and Print making. The presence of a significant teachers and researchers has proved to be advantageous for the college as a whole, as it is our intention to stimulate research and creativity. College of Fine Arts Thiruvananthapuram

The College of Fine Arts was founded in 1888 by His Highness Visakham Thirunal Rama Varma, the then Maharaja of erstwhile state of Travancore the college was firt known as H. H. The Maharaja’s School of Arts, Travancore and was affiliated to University of Kerala in 1979-80.

Over the years a number of distinguished artists and art educators of the country have nurtured the college. Veteran artists and scholars like the late K. K. Hebbar, the late N. S. Bendre, Prof. Gulam Sheikh, Prof. Hanumante….

The college has three main departments – Painting, Sculpture and Applied Art and two sections namely Graphics and Art History, functioning under it. All the departments have sufficient studio facilities, which create working atmosphere for the students. The college has talented and professional art teachers who have established themselves in their respective fields.

Industrial Design Centre
IIT, Bombay

Industrial Design Center was set up in 1969 by the Government of India under the auspices of Indian institute of technology Bombay.

Prof. V. N. Adarkar was the Adviser for the first five years. Prof. Sudhakar Nadkarni took up the headship and was responsible for setting up of IDC.

Aims and objectives put down by the committee for formation of the center were: "The aim of the Industrial Design Center is to prepare students to enter into new creative activities as professional industrial designers who with experience and maturity can reach the highest level of design practice, research and development necessary for the industry".

It began with an academic programme in industrial design. The initial efforts were focused on setting up the facilities and developing the faculty. IDC as an institution was conceived to be part of the 'Indian Institute of Technology Bombay'; to give it a strong "result oriented" character so that there is always the possibility to actualize the design concepts emerging from its field of education and research along with a broad technological support from the IIT as a whole.

Srishti School of Art, Design and Technology (Bangalore)

Srishti School of Art, Design and Technology was founded in 1996 by the Ujwal Trust with the objective of providing art and design education in an environment of creativity and maximizing individual potential. Srishti’s inter-disciplinary approach helps promote self-initiated learning and independent thinking, while expanding perceptual perspectives and developing artistic vocabularies. Courses are taught by industry-experienced faculty and the curriculum is built on a broad based liberal arts foundation.

Over the years, Srishti has gained recognition as a provider of quality contemporary art and design education. Its mission is facilitated by its organizational structure – a “community of learners” consisting of both faculty and students.

Srishti offers a two year Foundation Studies and Core Skills program for 12th standard graduates. Students can then opt to apply for a Professional Diploma in any of the 2-year specializations offered at Srishti – Textile Design, Fashion Design, Visual Communication Design, Digital Video Production and Furniture & Interior Design. They can also opt for a one year Certi?cate, 2 year Professional Diploma or 3 year Advanced Professional Diploma in the inter-disciplinary Design for Community and Self program.

Kala Bhavana of Visva Bharati is well-known as a distinguished centre for Visual Art practice and research in India. This institute which gave shape to the culture specific modernism initiated by Rabindranath Tagore and carried forward by the commitment and wisdom of Nandalal Bose, Benodebehari Mukhopadhyay, Ramkinkar Baij and their contemporaries, has richly contributed in giving a valid direction to individual art activity in contemporary social space. Its academic programme is broad based, it introduces the students to a vast repertoire of techniques and art forms backed by the knowledge of history of art.
